Our Story

Azafran Organic Crayons began not as a business idea, but as a personal need.

Founded by sisters Mansi Vyas and Aditi Vyas, Azafran was shaped by a shared belief that childhood creativity should always be safe, honest, and worry-free. The inspiration came from everyday parenting — the kind of moments that quietly change how you see the world.

When Mansi’s two-year-old son began exploring drawing, she noticed what every parent eventually does: toddlers don’t just hold things — they taste them. Wooden toys felt reassuring, but crayons were a concern. Every crayon he touched went straight into his mouth, and none of the options available felt truly safe enough for that stage of learning.

That moment sparked a simple but important question:

Why should parents have to choose between creative development and safety?

At the time, Azafran was already deeply immersed in the world of cold-pressed oils and organic plant waxes, supplying clean, botanical materials to conscious industries. Surrounded by plant-based innovation and formulation expertise, the sisters wondered — could the same botanical waxes be transformed into something as essential as a child’s first crayon?

That curiosity turned into experimentation.
The experimentation turned into purpose.

By working with organic plant waxes and food-grade colours, Azafran developed crayons that were creamy, vibrant, and most importantly — free from paraffin, petroleum, and hidden nasties. Crayons designed for little hands, curious mouths, and developing minds.

That is why Azafran exists.

To create tools for creativity that parents can trust.
To replace conventional, petroleum-based crayons with plant-based, non-toxic alternatives.
To allow children to explore, learn, and express themselves without compromise.

Today, Azafran is proud to be the first brand in India to introduce truly organic crayons for children, made using botanical waxes and thoughtfully formulated for early learners. Every crayon carries the intention it was born from — purity, safety, and the freedom to create.

Because at Azafran, we believe that a child’s first colours should be as clean as their imagination.
